“I had minimal confidence in myself and felt very intimidated by the newer, longer MCAT.

Sid shifted my mentality towards the test— it became a fun challenge—and this change in perspective allowed me to actually enjoy studying.

Gradually I felt my anxieties decrease and my confidence rise. I felt more supported, more confident, and better able to tackle the challenge because of Sid’s help. And, after the entire process, I ended up with a 512!”

FAQ

How long will my program take?
  • It’s custom: The benefit of 1-1 tutoring is that it is fully customized to you. Each student has unique strengths and competencies, so the length of coaching will differ as well. We will make a plan to suit your timeline, budget, and goal score.
  • Ideal time frame: The MCAT averages 3-4 months of study time. We will set you up so you have the most efficient study process for you that we can, according to your learning style.
What if I don’t get results?
  • If we set up realistic timeline expectations and you follow the program we design together, you will get results.
  • Head to the “Success Stories” page to see what happens when students follow their program! ?
What kind of test scores do people start with? Is mine too high/low?
  • As soon as we start, I will tell you about the common score ranges that student’s with similar skills start with: below 495, 495-504, 505-510, and 510+
  • From there, we will talk about why you are in your current range and how we will take you to a higher one.
  • Examples: I have had students start in the 470s and end up 510+. I also have had students who are stuck in the 510 range improve to 515+.
Who will tutor me? How does tutoring work?
  • You will always start with an intro session with me (Sid Goyal, head coach). I will personally evaluate your habits and problem areas.
  • Most students will continue working with me to improve their test taking and content application skills. However, in the case a student has large content gaps (scoring below 495), you will also meet with one of my tutors. These tutors are top-notch, with experience tutoring and crushing their own MCAT scores. That way we can efficiently build your content skill while simultaneously building your content application skills and habits.
How much is it?
  • Programs are custom, so pricing is custom as well. My goal is always to give you the skills you need and make you independent of me as quickly as possible.
  • Many first time students starting above a 495 are able to do 1-1 tutoring with me for less than than the price of a Princeton Review, Kaplan, or other tutoring company tuition.
  • For students who are retaking, there are so many variables that is hard to give an estimate without talking to you. As soon as I collect some info on your background and assess your MCAT habits, I will be able to give you a much more accurate answer. ?
Is it worth it?
  • Yes. A bad MCAT score will cost you way more than tutoring.
  • Most students who struggled with the MCAT went through this process:
    1. They bought books or another tutoring service.
    2. Some applied and got rejected.
    3. Some did this for many years on end, wasting thousands of dollars ($5-10k) and precious time.
  • When we combine that with the cost of losing out on a year of a physician salary and increasing yearly tuition costs, inflation, and interest… it can quickly become hundreds of thousands of dollars lost. ?
  • More than the financial ramifications, my goal is genuinely to have a life-changing impact on each student. Many of my students take the skills they have learned and go on to the top of their med school class and crush their boards.
  • I just had a student who was rejected and struggling on his MCAT retake. We got his MCAT up, helped him rebuild his GPA, got him into an MD school, and this past year he just scored top 95% on his boards! And he thought he would never get in when we first met. This is just one example of the journey I commit myself to go on with my students.
How are you different than Kaplan test prep, or other companies I’ve heard of?
  1. Most of those companies do not introduce you to your tutor until the first day of class.
  2. You don’t know how long the tutor has been tutoring, and they often aren’t specialized with figuring out what exactly YOU need.
  3. The programs are standardized and more content focused than skills focused… especially the group classes.
  • What about group courses? I have come to see that the students who didn’t need tutoring in the first place often are the ones who succeed and the ones who do need it often do not get enough individualization to benefit.
  • What about skills development in other 1-on-1 programs? I can essentially guarantee that we will cover the skills needed for the MCAT that go way beyond the content, while other tutoring programs do not address study skills, test-taking skills, and stress management skills. Often the 1-1 programs are variable in quality and overpriced. For instance, TPR starts at $11,000 for 1-1.
  • What about other 1-1 tutoring companies? I earned my top MCAT tutor ranking at one of these companies, and this was within a year of my graduating undergrad. They had me tutoring with very little training at the time. Consider that I charge similarly to these companies, and I have been tutoring for 7 years… 6 of them as a top tutor.
  • Most of all, no other tutor will…
    • Combine teaching you the best ways to learn and understand content for your individual brain
    • Set up a program based on your instinctual methods of studying
    • Break down how to read and attack the test
    • Show you how to manage the mental and emotional burdens of the test
    • And be cognizant of how to balance it with everything else you have going on such as class and applications.
